Principles Before Partnership

We believe every great collaboration starts with shared values. Before we discuss your project, let's understand what principles matter most to you.

We already understand the challenges of modern software: technical debt, SaaS complexity, AI without architecture, scaling without breaking. What we want to know is which values guide your decisions.

"Trust is the highest form of human motivation."

The Founders

The People Behind Trust Runtime

Two builders. One conviction: software should be built on principles that outlast trends.

Bob Nieme

Bob Nieme

Co-founder

Serial entrepreneur focused on future-proof systems and privacy-by-design in high-volume data processing. As strategy expert at Adversitement B.V., Bob joined the TU Eindhoven CAPA research program (Context Awareness in Predictive Analytics, 2011 to 2015), turning academic insight into real-world web analytics at scale. Bob steps in where complexity blocks others and solves it in a different way, because if the obvious path worked, it would not still be a problem today.

David Smits

David Smits

Co-founder

Programming since the age of 8, David earned his PhD at TU Eindhoven with GALE, the Generic Adaptation Language and Engine, delivered as the university's first adaptive PhD thesis in 2012. His work with the Database Group under Paul De Bra separated content from adaptation as a declarative runtime, the same principle now at the heart of Trust Runtime. David turns long-horizon research into runtime that lasts, grounding every recipe in first principles.

Origin Story

15+

years of research, engineering, and conviction behind Trust Runtime.

2011. Bob and David met inside the walls of TU Eindhoven during the STW-funded CAPA research program, Context Awareness in Predictive Analytics. Bob was strategy expert for Adversitement B.V., turning academic pattern mining into real-world web analytics at scale. David was completing his PhD in the Database Group under Paul De Bra.

2012. David defended GALE, the Generic Adaptation Language and Engine, delivered as TU Eindhoven's first adaptive PhD thesis. The core idea, separating content from adaptation as a declarative engine, would prove to be the seed of everything that followed.

2012 to today. Working across privacy-by-design, high-volume data processing, and event-driven architecture, Bob and David kept refusing the industry default: more frameworks, more vendors, more dependencies. Instead they kept a quiet promise to build a runtime that was declarative, auditable, and truly owned by the businesses running on it.

Now. In the era of AI, that promise is Trust Runtime: files, events, and recipes at any volume of scale. The founders build propositions themselves and are always open to kick-start and incubate new start-ups on the runtime, or to empower domain-market ideas into new business models grounded in principled architecture.
